Our new series, everybody, letamp;#39;s read this together: Worth it. Now, Worth it. Finish well. We will talk about how you live a life that will not just begin well, but finish well. How many of you like to watch basketball game? You mean most of you donamp;#39;t like basketball game? The only reason why I use basketball game as an illustration is the reality that we love basketball games. Now, let me ask you, which quarter is the most important? First quarter, second, third, fourth? If you want my opinion, every quarter is important, right? But if ever you want to choose, the most crucial one will be the fourth quarter. And I have seen games. I was thinking, amp;quot; This guy, this team is going to win.amp;quot; But something happened in the fourth quarter, in the last five minutes, last three minutes. A short poem intended for (or imagined as) an inscription on a tombstone and often serving as a brief elegy.
Short, concise, and pithy Many epitaphs are just one or two lines long. Even those with four or six lines are still short. This limitation can be beneficial. It gives you a chance to sum up a persons life in just a few words, to give it shape and express real emotion.
Epitaphs tend to include some information about the person who died, plus a short message. This could include things like: A list of their relationships with some of their loved ones (e.g. mother, daughter, friend) A few words about their life.
Short epitaphs, with their concise and heartfelt words, serve as lasting tributes on memorial headstones. These brief yet impactful phrases, like Beloved, Forever in our hearts, and Loving you always, are often etched in loving memory at the cemetery.
How to Write an Epitaph Start by reflecting. Before you start writing the epitaph, give yourself time to reflect on the deceaseds values, personality, achievements and quotes they might have lived by. Share ideas with your family. Decide the perspective of the epitaph. Determine the length. Make sure its timeless.
In addition to the name, dates of birth and death, and family relationships, epitaphs often feature a quote or statement commemorating the persons life. Many of these quotes and statements are reverent or religious, while others are humorous or philosophical. They can also be as simple as R.I.P. for Rest in Peace.
