Updating cross-references Cross-references do not automatically update when you make changes to your document. To update an individual cross-reference, highlight it and press F9 or right-click and select Update Field. To update all cross-references in your document: Press Ctrl + A (or Edit Select All)
Highlight the text you want to edit. Press Ctrl+D on Windows or Command+D on Mac. Click the Strikethrough option under Effects in the middle of the window. Press OK.
Another alternative is to use built-in keyboard shortcuts in conjunction with another font called Wingdings 2. To do this: Set the font to Wingdings 2 in your document where you want the tick or cross to be added. Press Shift+P for a tick or Shift+O for a cross.
Updating cross-references To update an individual cross-reference, highlight it and press F9 or right-click and select Update Field. To update all cross-references in your document: Press Ctrl + A (or Edit Select All) Press F9 (or right-click and select Update Field).
On the Reference tab, click Insert Citation and then do one of the following: To add the source information, click Add New Source, and then, in the Create Source dialog box, click the arrow next to Type of Source, and select the type of source you want to use (for example, a book section or a website).
Manually Updating your Reference List Click anywhere in your Reference list. Click the arrow in the top left corner. You will see an option at the bottom of Convert bibliography to static text. Type in whatever changes you wish. Your Reference list is now complete.
Insert the cross-reference In the document, type the text that begins the cross-reference. On the Insert tab, click Cross-reference. In the Reference type box, click the drop-down list to pick what you want to link to. In the Insert reference to box, click the information you want inserted in the document.
Press Alt+F9 to hide field codes. Locate the broken cross-reference. Right-click the cross-reference link, and then click Update Field.
