To remove a NOT NULL constraint for a column in MySQL, you use the ALTER TABLE . MODIFY command and restate the column definition, removing the NOT NULL attribute.
A NOT NULL constraint can be dropped from a column using the ALTER TABLE command alongside the ALTER COLUMN clause: ALTER TABLE tblname ALTER COLUMN colname DROP NOT NULL; Example: How Do I Drop a NOT NULL Constraint From a Postgres Table?
To remove a NOT NULL constraint for a column in SQL Server, you use the ALTER TABLE . ALTER COLUMN command and restate the column definition.
To do this, specify MODIFY with the column name and the existing data type, and omit the NOT NULL keywords. The omission of the NOT NULL keywords drops the not-null constraint on the column. However, if a unique index exists on the column, you can remove it using the DROP INDEX statement.
The ALTER command in SQL is used to make changes to a table, view, or the entire database. We can add, modify, and drop constraints, columns, and indexes using the ALTER command in SQL.
To remove a PRIMARY or UNIQUE constraint, drop the relevant index using the DROP INDEX command. To remove FOREIGN KEY constraints you need to recreate and reload the table, using other parameters to the CREATE TABLE command.
