Whether you are using a MacBook Air/Pro with a built-in keyboard or an iMac with Apple Magic Keyboard, you can find these modifier keys on the keyboard, mainly located at the bottom-left corner and bottom row.
You can easily type a Check Mark symbol (✓) on Mac by pressing Control-Command-Spacebar on your keyboard to bring up the Character Viewer. Search for check mark then select the symbol to insert it.
Change the check box symbol In your document, click the check box. On the Developer tab, click Properties. In the Content Control Properties dialog box, selectChange next to Checked symbol. In the Symbol box, look for a symbol.
Create a Mac OS X keyboard shortcut From the Apple menu, click System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts App Shortcuts. Click the + sign to add a keyboard shortcut.
To reassign a key Connect the keyboard that you want to configure. Select the Start button, and then select Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. From the displayed list of key names, select the key that you want to reassign. In the command list of the key that you want to reassign, select a command.
Go to System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts. Choose an item from the left pane, and then select the current key shortcut. Type the new command you want to use. You cant completely remap the keyboard.
You can change the action that modifier keys, such as Control or Option, perform when you press them. On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Keyboard Shortcuts on the right, then select Modifier Keys in the list on the left.
To reset your Mac keyboard to its default settings, go to System Preferences Keyboard, and click on the Modifier Keys button. Then, click the Restore Defaults button.
