Before you can even add a checkbox to your list, you have to enable the checkbox feature (and the tab menu its housed within). In this case, the checkbox feature is located within the Developer tab, which is a menu that isnt shown by default. You have to enable that menu first.
To change size, color, or border style of the check box, select the Use a style to format text typed into the empty control box, and then click New Style. Under Formatting, select a font size for the check box. In the Color list, select a color. To select a different border, select Format Border.
How to insert a checkbox in Word Navigate to the Symbols section of the bullet point menu. First, click on the space in the document where youd like the checkbox to appear. Select the checkbox option in Symbols Type your list using checkboxes.

How to style a checkbox using CSS Hide the browsers default checkbox. Create a custom checkbox. We will use a pseudo-element :before for the substrate. On mouse-over, add a darkly on 10% background color. Style the checkmark/indicator, by pseudo-element :after. Show or hide the checkmark when checked.
Make a checklist in Word Type the list. Go to Developer and select the Check Box Content Control at the beginning of the first line. To change the default X to something else, see Change checked boxes from an X to a checkmark. Copy and paste the check box control at the beginning of each line.
Highlight the check box and click Properties in the Ribbon. Write a Title for the check box. This will be read out by a screen reader so explain to the user what the check box relates to. Select OK.
