By default, your LaTeX document has a Chapter name (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.) for each chapter. If you want to remove such chapter name from your document, then you can use titlesec package and define the titleformat in order to hide the chapter title.
Time for action writing a book with chapters Create a new document with the following code: \documentclass[a4paper,12pt]{book} \usepackage[english]{babel} \usepackage{blindtext} \begin{document} \chapter{Exploring the page layout} In this chapter we will study the layout of pages. \ Save the document and Typeset it.
You can use \renewcommand{\chaptername}{nameyouwant} if you put it into the document body. From this point of document to the end or other redefinition, nameyouwant will be used to customize your chapter names.
The command \chapter is the one used in plain LaTeX to start a new chapter. This macro changes the required counters (the chapter, section, and float counters, among others) and also produces a large heading that usually consists of the chapter number and its title.
In an edited book, individual authors each contribute a chapter. The final publication is overseen by the editor(s), and their name(s) will be on the front cover of the book. When you cite one of the chapters in an edited book in your text, you must cite the author(s) of that chapter, not the editor of the book.
The ideal way to add chapters to your LaTeX document while writing a book is by creating a separate file for each chapter. These individual chapter files do not need a preamble. All you need to add at the beginning of each chapter file is the name of the chapter using the \chapter{..} command.
