WordPerfect includes Bates Numbering for a single document or a collection of files. Bates Numbering is especially useful for labelling document collections with sequential numbering, for easy identification and retrieval. Letamp;#39;s start by adding Bates Numbering to a single document. Open the file in WordPerfect. Select Bates Numbering from the Tools menu. There are several options, but letamp;#39;s work with the amp;quot;Current Documentamp;quot; option first. Click amp;quot;Nextamp;quot;. Select the number of digits for your numbering. For example, 7000 would be 4 digits. If you would like a Prefix and Suffix, add them here. For example, if you would like to use CaseABCD, you would add CaseABCD as the Prefix and leave the Suffix blank. Letamp;#39;s quickly add a Prefix and Suffix. Make formatting choices by selecting position, font, size, color and more Click amp;quot;Nextamp;quot;. Now select the Output type. For this single document, letamp;#39;s choose amp;quot;

Then follow these steps to automatically add Bates Numbers to each page in the document set: Open the file. Click Tools. Select Edit PDF. Choose More. Click Bates Numbering and Add. Select Output Options to customize the serial numbers. Click OK.
In the Macros selection box, select Bates Number and click Settings. In the Bates Numbering Options dialog box, specify the number of digits (between 6 and 15) to be used, the starting number, and, if you want, a prefix and/or a suffix for the Bates Number to be stamped on your document, then click OK.
Display the Pages panel, right-click a page and select Number Pages in the Options drop-down list. Use this dialog box to define custom page numbering for selected pages. Select to re-number all pages, selected pages only or a document section.
Click Macros, then click Bates Number and Settings. Define your Bates numbering scheme in this dialog, including the starting number, prefixes/suffixes, and other info. Click OK. Use the Header/Footer dialog to select the placement location for your numbers.
Select Edit Insert Bates Numbering Remove to permanently remove Bates numbers from currently open files. Other header and/or footer elements, if any, are retained.
