By default, Apples Mail app for Macs will show any attachments as an inline preview. This means that a large image will quickly fill up the mail window and make it difficult to navigate.
Some modern web browsers (or their plugins) automatically block pop-ups. These pop-up blockers can also prevent attachments from opening. You may need to turn off your pop-up blockers or adjust their settings to allow pop-ups from specific websites. For example, heres how to manage the pop-up blocker in Google Chrome.
In the Mail app on your Mac, do one of the following: For the current message: Choose Edit Attachments Insert Attachments at End. For all messages: From the Message viewer, choose Edit Attachments Always Insert Attachments at End of Message (a checkmark shows its on).
On your Mac, do one of the following: Drag the file onto the app icon in the Finder or the Dock. Select the file in the Finder, choose File Open With, then choose an app. Control-click the file, choose Open With, then choose an app. Open the app, then choose File Open.
