First of all lets go and see the names of the Merge tags for our list. So Ill go into settings , List Fields and Merge Tags. SO you can do the same and see the actual names for your list. If I come here you can see that you have the name of the Merge tag, you can change it if you want to. But Im going to leave it the way it is. So you can also have defaults. A default is whereby, if the merge tags doesnt work for whatever reason, it will use the default . So if you are using your salutation as Hallo First Name , and in the First name section you are using the *|FNAME|* Merge tag, and the Merge Tag doesnt work. It will be replaced by the default that you put here. So you can add a default there.
