Building plans are typically created in a CAD program and distributed as a PDF file. Although PDFs may include scale and unit information, it is best not to rely on this as values could be incorrect. In the free DocHub reader, it is recommended to adjust 2D measurement preferences to ensure accuracy. On Windows, go to Edit Preferences Measuring 2D, and on a Mac, go to the Acrobat Reader menu then Preferences Measure 2D. Make sure to uncheck "Scale in units from document." This setting should be saved for future use. To access the measurement tools in DocHub reader, click on the Tools tab in the upper left corner.
