Termination Process Officially, the only thing that needs to be done to terminate a volunteer is to have the volunteers supervisor or another government employee sign the termination section of the volunteer agreement. Other steps may need to be taken depending on the situation.
If the problem cannot be resolved informally with your volunteer, it might then be appropriate to invoke a disciplinary policy and procedure. A formal verbal warning may be given to the volunteer if, despite informal discussions or training, the conduct or performance still does not meet acceptable standards.
What to include in a volunteer agreement provide an induction and any training needed for the role. give regular support to the volunteer. have a named person to support the volunteer. treat volunteers in line with an equal opportunities policy. pay back volunteer expenses. have insurance cover for volunteers.
By drawing and signing a volunteer agreement, organizations can effectively communicate its expectations for volunteers in a way that is legally enforceable. The purpose of a volunteer agreement is to create a legally binding contract between volunteer and volunteer-involved organization.

Rights of volunteers As members of the public who give their time freely to a task without financial recompense, volunteers do not have a contract of employment and therefore they do not have the rights to which employees or workers are entitled.
The agreement does not necessarily have to be signed and may be in the form of a letter from the organisation to the individual volunteer but a signature in itself, in the absence of other indications of a legally binding arrangement, is unlikely to create a legally binding agreement.
A volunteer agreement is a clear statement of what the volunteer can expect from the organisation and what the organisation expects from the volunteer. It is not legally binding, but is designed to make clear what the organisation is offering and what it expects in return from the volunteer.
