College ruled is a type of ruled paper normally used in the U.S. Its paper with horizontal lines to align your text upon as a guide. The lines are usually in blue so that they will not show up using some photocopying methods (which is where we ended up with that color choice for the lines in the first place).
Also, what is the difference between Legal Ruled and Wide Ruled Paper? Wide or legal ruler paper has a greater distance of 11/32 inches between horizontal lines on a sheet. As a rule, wide paper is preferred by users with larger handwriting, as well as in schools with younger children.
Blank, Rules, And Gridded The most common styles are blank, ruled, and gridded (sometimes called graph paper). Lines and grids come in different widths, but are fairly standardized (college ruled is the standard, at 7 mm, and graph paper standardly comes in at 5 mm.)
The blue lines are there to guide your hand straight across the page. But what about the red lines? Those tell you to not get any closer to the edge of the paper. In the past, the red lines reminded you to leave space on the edge in case any rodents mice or rats decided to chew on your paper.
You can use the lined paper templates for Word to print your own lined paper with different line heights or line colors. The template was created using a Table, so to change the row heights or borders, select the rows or columns that you want to modify, then right-click on one of them and select Table Properties.
What types of ruled paper are there? The most commonly used ruled papers include wide, college, narrow, quadrille, Gregg, and Pitman ruled. Wide, or legal, ruled paper features a larger 11/32 space between horizontal lines on a sheet.
Ruled paper (or lined paper) is writing paper printed with lines as a guide for handwriting. The lines often are printed with fine width and in light colour and such paper is sometimes called feint-ruled paper.
Types of Lined Paper College Lined Paper. College lined paper, also known as college ruled paper, has 7.1 mm (9/32 inches) between its horizontal lines, and the vertical margin is 32 mm (1 inches) from the left-hand edge of the page. Narrow Lined Paper. Wide Lined Paper. Gregg Ruled Paper. Graph Paper. Manuscript Paper.
Even though I dont use lined paper for writing, I came across an interesting fact about margins. You know, those red lines down the left and right sides of notebook paper, or the spaces around the text in books. Margins come in handy for notes, but at one time they had a more unique purpose.
As the name denotes, narrow paper has lines which are closer together, inch spacing, and are used for people who have smaller handwriting and allows for more writing per page. Regardless of the brand of loose-leaf paper you buy, wide ruled and college ruled paper will all have the same type of spacing.
