so now we're going to talk about external linking and external linking is really just a way of linking to anything that is not in our vault so say for example i wanted to link to a website or an external resource you could even link to files on your computer that are not in your vault by using the windows um the windows file syntax so the way we do that is we open with a square bracket like so but instead of using two square brackets like we did before we're gonna open a curly bracket or brace depending on where you're from and i'm just gonna put your website and then i could put my website in here and you'll see it takes me to an external link something else to note is if you take a link like this and just paste it in obsidian will notice that it's an external link anyway and in some cases will even format it into this format with the url in the text field like so
