Now, Amazon had also announced at the time it would be ending support for sending MOBI files to Kindle by the end of 2022. Surprisingly, that is yet to come into effect even though we are well into 2023 already. This sure isnt a huge deal as there arent a lot of people who seem to care either.
Mobi Format Attach the file to an email, send it to your Kindles email address (with any subject, and nothing in the body of the email), and it should appear on your Kindle shortly. You can also drag and drop the file onto your Kindle if you attach the device to your PC with a USB cable.
Can you add hyperlinks in Kindle ebooks? Yes, you can add hyperlinks to an ebook of any type to direct readers to external web pages to improve the reading experience. Most e-reader devices and reading apps are connected to Wi-Fi and the Internet. So adding links to an ebook makes a lot of sense.
MOBI and AZW are now outdated. Newer software features on Kindle devices and in the Kindle app will not work for these files. Any MOBI/AZW files already in your library will still exist and will still open, but may not have all features available as mentioned above.
Amazon has announced the retirement of its proprietary MOBI file format for eBooks, and a transition to the EPUB format for use on Kindle devices and apps. As of August 2022, you will no longer be able to send the MOBI file format to Kindles or the Kindle app using the Send to Kindle service.
As of June 28, 2021, Amazon will no longer accept the MOBI file format for publications with reflowable layouts. This decision applies to both new releases and file replacements.
What Book Format Should You Use: EPUB, PDF, or MOBI/AZW3? In almost every case, you should start by using the EPUB file format for your book. Even if you plan to distribute your eBook on the Amazon marketplace, you should use the EPUB file, as this is what Amazon recommends and accepts.
You can have two kinds of links in your eBook: one that leads to a given page in your book (such as the Appendix), or another type that leads to an external site which requires internet access (such as your Twitter account). Both of these hyperlinks are acceptable for retail outlets.
