The first thing to understand is the concept of link states — different states that links can exist in. These can be styled using different pseudo-classes: Link: A link that has a destination (i.e., not just a named anchor), styled using the :link pseudo class.
There are two kinds of links in HTML: Links to external resources. These are links to resources that are to be used to augment the current document, generally automatically processed by the user agent. Hyperlinks.
In general, there are three types of links: Internal links – hyperlinks that lead from one page to another within your own website; External links – hyperlinks that lead from your website to another resource; Backlinks – hyperlinks that lead from another site to yours.
