What is an ETL file? ETL files are log files that contain event logs generated by Microsoft Operating System Kernel.
WPA analyzes all system information about CPU, memory, storage, and more. To launch WPR, select the Start menu and type Windows Performance Recorder. Next, select the Windows Performance Recorder app. The WPR tool is a straightforward tool to capture events occurring on your system during a specific timeframe.
WPA can open any event trace log (ETL) files that are created by using Windows Performance Recorder (WPR) or Xperf. On the File menu, click Open.
Windows Performance Recorder (WPR) is a tool that extends Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) and provides detailed recordings of system and application behavior and resource usage.
Step 1: Opening an ETL File On the File menu, click Open. If you have saved your ETL file to a location other than the default, navigate to that location. By default, WPR saves ETL files in your Documents\WPR Files folder. Select the desired file, and click Open.
Configure and retrieve Outlook logs In Outlook, go to the File tab, then Options, and then Advanced. Under Other, select or clear the check box Enable troubleshooting logging (this will require an Outlook restart). Select OK and restart Outlook.
To begin with, ETL stands for Event Trace Log. It is a binary file format that captures log info from a wide range of built-in Windows tools and diagnostic utilities.
