If the work will only be read in print or as a Word doc or Google Doc, then the URLs should not be live (i.e., they are not blue or underlined). However, if the work will be published or read online, then APA advises to include live URLs.
Author, A. A. (Year, Month Day). Title of online content: Subtitle. Website Name. URL.
APA website citations usually include the author, the publication date, the title of the page or article, the website name, and the URL. If there is no author, start the citation with the title of the article. If the page is likely to change over time, add a retrieval date.
If you merely mention a website, yes. But, if you quote or paraphrase information from individual pages on a website, create a unique reference for each one. This allows your reader to find your exact source. This may mean your reference list contains a number of references with similar, but distinct, URLs.
First, it is fine for links to be live in a paper, though not specifically required. Live hyperlinks are particularly helpful when a paper is being read in an online environment. In fact, the online versions of articles published in APA journals include live links in both the PDF and HTML versions.
Luckily, writing the in-text citation for a website or webpage is easy: Simply include the author and year of publication. The URL goes in the corresponding reference list entry (and yes, you can leave the links live).
Hyperlinks/URLs: It is acceptable to use either the default display settings for hyperlinks in your word-processing program (e.g., usually blue font, underlined) or plain text that is not underlined. Leave links live if the work is to be published or read online.
Present both DOIs and URLs as hyperlinks (i.e., beginning with http: or https:). Because a hyperlink leads readers directly to the content, it is not necessary to include the words Retrieved from or Accessed from before a DOI or URL.
Basic format to reference a webpage on a website Author or authors. The surname is followed by first initials. Year, Month Day (in round brackets). Use the most exact date possible. Title (in italics). Website name. URL. The first line of each citation is left adjusted. Every subsequent line is indented 5-7 spaces.
Include information in the following order: author (the person or organisation responsible for the site) year (date created or last updated) page title (in italics) name of sponsor of site (if available) accessed day month year (the day you viewed the site) URL or Internet address (pointed brackets).
