Examples of link-state routing protocols include Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS).
Example to Understand Link State Routing Algorithm Step 1: Discovery phase. Each router sends Hello packets to discover its neighbors. Step 2: LSA flooding. Each router floods its own LSA to all other routers in the network. Step 3: SPF calculation. Step 4: Updating LSAs. Step 5: SPF calculation.
Link state protocols use characteristics of the route such as speed and cost as well as current congestion to determine the best path, which is typically computed by the Dijkstra algorithm. Link state routers are updated from all the routers in the entire network by passing information from router to nearest router.
Which option is a key feature of link-state routing protocols? The correct answer is connected. A connected route has the lowest administrative distance.
The OLSR protocol uses a link-state algorithm to proactively determine the most efficient path between nodes. The key point of OLSR lies in the dynamic Multi-Point Relay (MPR) technique, which selects only a subset of neighboring nodes to relay data instead of every node acting as a relay.
Examples of Link state routing protocols include OSPF - Open Shortest Path First and IS-IS - Intermediate System to Intermediate System.
Link State protocols in comparison to Distance Vector protocols have: Big memory requirements. Shortest path computations require many CPU circles. If network is stable little bandwidth is used; react quickly to topology changes. Announcements cannot be filtered. All neighbors must be trusted.
A common example of a link state protocol is the OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) routing protocol.
