Higher image quality translates into more available data when it comes to photo editing, giving RAWs a definitive edge over JPEGs. Editing programs like docHub Camera RAW, Bridge, or Lightroom are built for fine-tuning RAWs into polished final photos.
RAW files are uncompressed, so they take up more space on your hard drive but they retain all of the image data. This makes them ideal for editing because you have more information to work with. Thats pros love shooting in RAW. However, RAW files are not as easy to edit as JPEGs.
The more pixels an image contains, the bigger the file will be on your computer. Typically images will be supplied as JPEGs, and an A4 (210mm x 297mm or 8 x 11) image at 72 ppi will create a JPEG of approximately 500kb or half a megabyte.
The size of a RAW file depends on the size of the sensor, and whether your camera is an MFT, APS-C, full-frame or medium format camera. Most RAW files are sized between 20 - 40 MB per file.
The short answer is: yes. Converting a RAW file to JPEG affects the quality of the image itself. The only thing that changes is the format - raw files are typically converted to JPEGs so they can be viewed on devices like computers, phones, and cameras.

The standard resolution for web images is 72 PPI (often called screen resolution). At that size, the pixels you see on the screen are all the pixels there are; an image thats 4 long at 72 PPI will take up about 4 of your monitor.
This is normal. Jpeg files will always become smaller than the related raw files because there is a compression process that takes place by design in creating the jpeg file, yes even at maximum quality.
Raw has more options for correcting exposure issues With a JPEG, white balance is applied by the camera, and there are fewer options to modify it in post-processing. With a raw file, you have complete control over white balance when editing the image. Lost detail in overexposed highlights cannot be recovered in a JPEG.
If you wish to make a quick edit or directly use the image for social media, go with JPEGs. If you wish to edit the same image seriously, use the RAW file. I hope next time you import an image to Lightroom, these experiments will encourage you to shoot and edit in RAW format.
