I am joy from BH many of us have shot a bride and groom with just an on-camera flash and have noticed unpleasant shadows across your subjects face and background when shooting vertically this happens because the flash is on the side of your camera and the light from your flash will cast unpleasant shadows across your subjects I want to show you how to control these shadows so you can have more pleasant pictures for this application I will use the folding s bracket from custom brackets to attach my flash and camera with a TTL cord from Velo this setup allows for proper orientation of your flash in both vertical and horizontal shooting positions this way your flash is always on top and the shadows always fall behind your subject no more unwanted shadows when the flash sits on top of your camera exposure information is transmitted via the hotshoe but when the flash is attached to the flash bracket you need some weight for the camera to communicate with the flash a TTL cord will connect
