ak is looking likely to be the next big thing thats going to be sold to us in all consumer products thanks to likes of canon and samsung but raw video is the other thing that were going to see more often in cameras and i think this could be a lot more useful to more people than 8k right now heres how and why and what and another question but first this video is sponsored by skillshare an online learning community with thousands of classes which you can join in on or be the one to teach so if you want to take the next step in your creative journey then check out skillshare raw sounds good but before you dump down the dollars on the next new carrier what exactly is it yes what is it and why do you need it the simple explanation is so simple its almost patronizing its just like raw stills versus jpeg stools you get your raw data from the sensor yes youll get a bigger file but the benefit is that you can fiddle more of it and post exposure color less potential for artifacts whereas

The Basics: Fine and Normal are different compression settings for JPEG images captured on a camera. Fine offers the better quality, but larger file size, whereas as Normal occupies less space on a memory card, but is lower quality.
Image quality NORMAL uses more compression and generates a file whose size is approximately 1/8 of the original (i.e., 1:8). This is good for general applications. Finally, the image quality BASIC uses a high compression that compresses an image to its 1/16 (i.e., 1:16).
Each has different advantages. The Fine mode uses less compression when storing a picture. Therefore, the recorded pictures will have better quality than those recorded in the Standard mode. However, since there is less compression, the file size is larger and requires more memory space for storage.
Press [MENU/OK] in shooting mode to display the shooting menu. Press the selector up or down to highlight [IMAGE QUALITY] and press [MENU/OK]. Highlight an option and press [MENU/OK]. Select [RAW] to record only RAW images, or [FINE+RAW] or [NORMAL+RAW] to record both JPEG copy together with the RAW images.
The main advantage of shooting in RAW is that you end up with high-quality files to edit into the best possible image. Capturing and storing all the details that pass through your cameras sensors means RAW files contain a wider dynamic range and far greater color spectrum than JPEGs.
[FINE] and [FINE+RAW] use lower JPEG compression ratios for higher-quality JPEG images, while [NORMAL] and [NORMAL+RAW] use higher JPEG compression ratios to increase the number of images that can be stored.
What is a RAF file? Also known as Fujifilm RAW, RAF is a raw image format used by Fujifilm digital cameras to take high-quality photos. It stores the unprocessed image data from a cameras sensor matrix, a digital negative, preparing it for further editing with Lightroom or other available photo editors.
The jpg settings in the camera (basic, normal and fine) refer to COMPRESSION ratios. For basic, the camera tries to make as small a file as possible, so throws out a lot of data. For normal it comprresses less, losing less data, and for fine it loses even less data.
