hey guys he going my name is dumb and in this video were gonna be looking at creating a table row links inside HTML and JavaScript okay so the problem is you cant actually make an entire table row clickable using plain HTML so Im if i was to example try and make this entire row clickable i could go inside the HTML and basically attempt to wrap the entire row tag inside an href sorry an a href so for example we can say we can go to google.com okay and then were gonna simply try to wrap this over there so now you have its anchor tag over the entire table row you might expect this to work if I was to save this and refresh the browser unfortunately it does not work so if I was to try and click on the table row we get nowhere okay so were going to use JavaScript to actually you know get around this problem and then make each one of these table rows clickable alright so Ive actually loaded up here jQuery but you dont need jQuery to achieve this effect or you know perform this workaro

What is the HTML a href attribute? In HTML, the inline a (anchor) element denotes a hyperlink from one web address to another. All functional a elements must contain the href (hypertext reference) attribute inside the opening a tag. The href attribute indicates the destination of the hyperlink.
The HREF is an attribute of the anchor tag, which is also used to identify sections within a document. The HREF contains two components: the URL, which is the actual link, and the clickable text that appears on the page, called the anchor text.
One workaround that can be done is to not wrap the content inside of a table cell with an element, but instead, add an empty in each cell and then absolutely position it relative to the cell so that it covers the entire cell area. This way, its possible to have other links within the table cells.
HTML table row click-able with link HTML. example table data jQuery. $(tr).click(function(){ window.location = example.html; }); jQuery. $(.myclass tr).click(function(){ window.location = example.html; }); CSS. tr:hover{ cursor: pointer; background-color: #ccc; } CSS.
To make the row clickable, we need to add a . clickable class to tag. Further add the URL address to attribute onclick=window. location=type URL address within .
With all browsers including IE6 you can attach JavaScript directly to the cell to handle the click. It is only if you really need the tag that you should use one. A lot of people use when it is easier to just use a tag that is alrerady there or if there isnt a tag to attach the onclick to.
If you add display: block CSS style tag to the anchor objects in the cells that you want to be clickable it will make the entire cell (minus any padding) act like a button. The cursor is displayed correctly and it previews the link destination in the status bar.
HTML table row click-able with link HTML. example table data jQuery. $(tr).click(function(){ window.location = example.html; }); jQuery. $(.myclass tr).click(function(){ window.location = example.html; }); CSS. tr:hover{ cursor: pointer; background-color: #ccc; } CSS.

A link is defined using the tag. You can add the link text or images and another web pages.Example of a simple HTML table in two rows, two columns: table, th, td { border: 1px solid black; }
