TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT: Nanny is an at-will employee and this agreement will continue until terminated by either party. However, both parties agree to provide four weeks notice of intent to terminate this agreement (or pay in lieu of such notice), except when such termination is for cause.
Be brief and state only the facts. Let the nanny know about their pay and any severance. If you have a confidentiality agreement, remind them that it covers termination and remains in effect after their employment has ended.
A nanny contract is a legally binding document that sets out the terms and conditions of a professional relationship between a nanny and a family in a location.
If the nanny is sick, they would typically have sick days written into their contract so they could take time off and not be financially impacted. We recommend adding 5 sick days to your contract, which means that the nanny will still be paid even if they are unable to work due to illness.
The notice period within the probationary period is around one week for employees and employers. Once the nannys probationary period ends this can be extended or deferred to the nannys notice period (4 to 6 weeks in the nanny market).
