ProRAW gives you greater creative control when editing photos. Apple ProRAW combines the information of a standard RAW format along with iPhone image processing, which gives you more flexibility when editing the exposure, color, and white balance in your photo.
Most professional photography is shot in raw. This format gives the most flexibility when editing photos later. Professional photojournalists and sports photographers may shoot in JPEG when they send images directly from their camera to a news outlet. They do not have time to post-process the pictures.
The short answer is: yes. Converting a RAW file to JPEG affects the quality of the image itself. The only thing that changes is the format - raw files are typically converted to JPEGs so they can be viewed on devices like computers, phones, and cameras.
The ProRAW version (right) has smoother textures, more true-to-life color with fewer blowouts in the lights, and a muted sky. If you zoom in, the standard JPEG also has more noise, thus losing detail, while the ProRAW version doesn't get as noisy and has more detail.
Most Compatible. The iPhone will default to High Efficiency because this will optimize space on your phone. If you struggle with low storage, then keep it as High Efficiency unless you REALLY notice a difference in quality. Most Compatible will not compress your photo and will save it with a .
Better detail and dynamic range: If you have a high-end camera with a large megapixel count, you will see a noticable difference between the camera's RAW mode and JPEG mode. RAW provides far more image information, allowing you to capture more detail and greater dynamic range from your camera sensor.

Professional photographers and serious enthusiasts capture still images as raw files whenever possible. The reason is simple: raw files provide more image data and give photographers much greater control over white balance, saturation, sharpening and contrast in their images.
RAW + JPEG: The Best of Both Worlds Shooting in RAW and JPEG at the same time gives you greater flexibility. Photo by: 'Iurie Belegurschi'. Most digital cameras these days will allow for you to record the same image in both JPEG and RAW formats, at the same time. This gives you increased flexibility with your files.
The full form of HEIF is High Efficiency Image File Format. Should I use high efficiency or most compatible? High efficiency takes advantage of HEIF/HEIC giving you the best or similar image quality at a smaller size when compared to JPG which is the default image format when you select “most compatible”.
