hi this is jerry becerra with barbary insurance brokerage and today were going to talk about what an additional insured is on a certificate of liability insurance so first of all a certificate of insurance is only evidence of coverage it does not confer any special rights on the certificate holder at all and in fact if you look at the wording on the certificate itself its going to have a disclaimer limiting the exactly what that certificate does what it is going to do is show who the insurance company is who the insured party is what the limits of liability are and then its going to list a certificate holder and that certificate holder should be informed if that policy cancels however theres no obligation to do so if the certificate names somebody as an additional insured on the certificate thats fine and often acceptable to the additional insured however what you really need is an additional insured endorsement on the policy and often you will find that the third party insists on

The typical exclusion clause in a liability insurance policy reads: This policy does not apply to liability assumed by the insured under any con- tract or agreement not defined herein. The problem has two aspects, one economic and the other legal.
A severability of interest clause outlines that the same insurance policy clauses apply separately to the individual insured parties. Similar to the cross-liability coverage discussed previously, severability of interest also allows for a claim from one insured party to the other to be covered under the clause.
Cross-liability means that one insured party can sue another insured party when both parties are under the same policy. Cross-liability clauses are typically standard in a commercial general liability policy.
Policies of insurance can include a provision that acknowledges that each co-insured is separate and distinct and expressly waive any rights an insurer would otherwise have to pursue a co-insured in respect of loss or damage it indemnifies. These are known as cross liability and waiver of subrogation clauses.
(Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development) is the global standards-setting body for the insurance and related financial services industries.
When a loss occurs, the principal and supplier may incur different and separate liabilities for the incident, including liabilities to each other. A cross liability clause attempts to resolve this potential conflict by providing cover to each party as if a separate insurance policy was issued to each insured.
In addition to coverage levels, the certificate includes the policyholders name, mailing address, and describes the operations that the insured performs. The address of the issuing insurance company is listed, along with contact information for the insurance agent or the insurance agencys contact person.
General liability insurance (GLI) can help cover claims that your business caused bodily injury or property damage. General liability insurance (GLI) is sometimes called business liability insurance or commercial general liability insurance or comprehensive general liability (CGL).
