There are a number of ways to open . mobi eBooks. Some common suggestions include Calibre, FBReader, and the official Kindle app. Of these, both Calibre and FBReader are available for Windows, macOS, Linux.

MOBI files can also be read by popular eBook readers like the Amazon Kindle and many smartphones that support the format. Additionally, many eBook readersagain, like the popular Kindle devicealso have desktop software, mobile apps, and browser tools that allow the reading of MOBI files.
Starting August 1, 2021, we will no longer support MOBI files for reflowable eBooks. Use EPUB, DOCX or KPF to publish new or update reflowable eBooks.
When should I stop providing MOBI files for reflowable eBooks? We recommend authors and publishers to start providing EPUB, DOC/DOCX or KPF files as soon as possible for new and/or updated version of your reflowable eBooks. We will officially stop accepting MOBI files for reflowable eBooks on August 1, 2021.
MOBI and AZW are now outdated. Newer software features on Kindle devices and in the Kindle app will not work for these files. Any MOBI/AZW files already in your library will still exist and will still open, but may not have all features available as mentioned above.
Amazon has announced the retirement of its proprietary MOBI file format for eBooks, and a transition to the EPUB format for use on Kindle devices and apps. As of August 2022, you will no longer be able to send the MOBI file format to Kindles or the Kindle app using the Send to Kindle service.
