In todays video were gonna discuss whats called a deed of trust, or sometimes called a trust deed, depending on what part of the country youre operating in. Now, I did a previous video on, excuse me, the promissory note and a mortgage. A promissory note, the mortgage, and a deed of trust all kinda go hand in hand together. First, you dont have to deal with your creditors and they will no longer be able to contact you to try to recover their money. At the end of your Trust Deed term, any unsecured debt that you werent able to repay during your Trust Deed will be written off. You will now be free to enjoy life after debt.
A trust deed remains on your credit file for six years, a timescale that exceeds the term of most trust deeds which are generally completed in three or four years.
The majority of unsecured debts can be added to a trust deed, including the most popular forms of borrowing such as credit cards, store cards, and personal loans. Any personal VAT or income tax arrears can likewise be included, as can bank overdrafts, payday loans, and catalogue debts.
The good news is that its possible to obtain a mortgage after a Trust Deed, but it will take some time and planning. Once discharged, youll need to stick to a strict budget that factors in saving for a deposit, as well as avoid further debt and rebuild your credit rating.
What is a trust deed. A trust deed is a voluntary agreement between you and the people you owe money to (also called your creditors). You agree to pay a regular amount of money towards your debts and at the end of a fixed time the rest of your debts will be written off.
Once you have been discharged from your Trust Deed, you are officially debt free, and this should be reflected in your credit score within 3 months of completion. If your debts are not shown as being satisfied within this time, you should contact your creditors and request them to update your credit file.
