XLink is used to create hyperlinks in XML documents.Example explained: The xlink:type=simple creates a simple HTML-like link. The xlink:href attribute specifies the URL to link to (in this case - an image) The xlink:show=new specifies that the link should open in a new window.
There are two basic types of links in an XML document. Internal links are links to a section within the same document, much like hash URLs and anchor tags in an HTML document. External links, as the name implies, are links to other, external documents.
XML stands for extensible markup language. A markup language is a set of codes, or tags, that describes the text in a digital document. The most famous markup language is hypertext markup language (HTML), which is used to format Web pages.
XLink is used to create hyperlinks in XML documents. XLink is used to create hyperlinks within XML documents. Any element in an XML document can behave as a link. With XLink, the links can be defined outside the linked files. XLink is a W3C Recommendation.
The unofficial tag is used to embed XML data within HTML. Note that the tag is an HTML element, not an XML element. Data Islands can be bound to HTML elements (like HTML tables). In the example below, an XML Data Island with an ID cdcat is loaded from an external XML file.
So, here we are listing some of them: XML is Verbose The most prominent issues with XML is that it is verbose. XML Needs You to Specify the Language. XML has No Semantics. Unnested Elements or Text. Open Tags. Lack of Applications Processing. No Root Element. XML Documents are Difficult to Set Up.
A single is illegal in an XML document (outside of CDATA sections; see @rsps answer), so this is not possible. If there is a verbatim ampersand in your node data, it has to be encoded as amp; . But its also no problem because any XML reader will decode amp; as a literal when parsing the XML file.
HTML links are hyperlinks. You can click on a link and jump to another document. When you move the mouse over a link, the mouse arrow will turn into a little hand. Note: A link does not have to be text. A link can be an image or any other HTML element!
