Supports DisplayPort and also enables you to connect an external display using a display adapter. NOTE A USB Type-C to DisplayPort adapter (sold separately) is required to connect a DisplayPort device.
Heres how to do it: Connect the USB-C to USB-C cable to the Thunderbolt 4 port on your laptop. Connect the other end to the USB-C input on the back of the dock. Connect a regular HDMI cable from your TV to the HDMI output on the dock. Press the Power button on your laptop.
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), also known as electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA), is a technique for analyzing a materials surface chemistry. XPS can measure elemental composition as well as the chemical and electronic state of the atoms within a material.
You can connect external displays directly to the Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, or up to four external displays using a USB-C docking station and a direct connection to the Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) port with a USB-C or Thunderbolt cable. NOTE The connected USB Type-C display provides power to the computer.
In XPS, the atoms of the samples surface absorb X-rays and emit electrons, but in XRF the atoms of the sample both absorb and emit X-rays. In XRD, the atoms of the sample do not absorb X-rays at all, they just reflect them.
The XPS 13 doesnt have any regular HDMI or DisplayPort outputs. Instead, it relies on USB-C and Thunderbolt 3.
XPS can be used to analyze the surface chemistry of a material after an applied treatment such as fracturing, cutting or scraping. From non-stick cookware coatings to thin-film electronics and bio-active surfaces, XPS is the standard tool for surface material characterization.
The basic principle of XPS is the photoelectric effect discovered by Hertz in 1887 [7, 8] and extended to surface analysis by K. Siegbahn and his research group at Uppsala University, Sweden, during the mid-1960s. Siegbahn won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1981 for his work in XPS and coined the acronym ESCA [9].
The principle upon which photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) is based is simple. If a molecule is excited by a high-energy photon in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum that has sufficient energy to ionize the molecule, the excited species will eject electrons.
XPS is conducted in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions, around 10-9 millibar (mbar). Atmospheric pressure is about 1 bar, which means that the number of atoms of gas in a UHV chamber is one-trillionth that of air per unit of volume. The ambient atmosphere that a sample is exposed to can change its properties.
