Create a link to another worksheet Select the cell or cells where you want to create the external reference. Type = (equal sign). Switch to the worksheet that contains the cells that you want to link to. Select the cell or cells that you want to link to and press Enter.
=HYPERLINK(linklocation, [friendlyname]) The HYPERLINK function uses the following arguments: Linklocation (required argument) This is the path to the file or page that needs to be opened. Friendlyname (optional argument) THis is the link text to be displayed in a cell.
=HYPERLINK(B2,A2) The formula result shows the name from cell A2. If you click the link, it goes to the company website URL from cell B2. To complete the lisk of hyperlinks, copy the formula down to the remaining rows.
To link to a certain web page, you can simply type its URL in a cell, hit Enter, and Microsoft Excel will automatically convert the entry into a clickable hyperlink. To link to another worksheet or a specific location in another Excel file, you can use the Hyperlink context menu or Ctrl + K shortcut.
Open the HYPERLINK function by typing =HYPERLINK in Excel. Prefix the hash (#), followed by the name of the worksheet, the exclamation mark (!), and the cell reference. For instance, if we have data in cell A2 and want to use that in cell A1, use =A2 in cell A1, and this will copy the A2 value in A1.
To quickly update all formulas in a worksheet that use a HYPERLINK function with the same arguments, you can place the link target in another cell on the same or another worksheet, and then use an absolute reference to that cell as the linklocation in the HYPERLINK formulas.
