Open the report in Crystal and select from the menus Database Set Datasource Location. Click on Create New Connection and select OLEDB. Then select the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server. Select from the Server dropdown or type the server name as required to match your database server name.
Create the groups: Right-click on the field Group on Field, repeat this for the five fields you want to group by. On each group you should see a GroupName{[table. field1]} label.

To connect to a running database: Start Crystal Reports by clicking Start Programs Crystal Reports. Select the As a Blank Report option in the Create a New Crystal Report Document area and click OK. Click + next to the Create New Connection folder to view subfolders.
To do so, you must: Create a variable of type Data source to represent the query at runtime. Create a Character String variable to contain the SQL code of the query and write the SQL code in this variable. Run the SQL query with HExecuteSQLQuery. Browse the result with the HRead functions.
Resolution In Crystal Reports, open the report. Under the menu Database select Verify Database. The Verify Database window appears with the message: The database file has changed. Click Ok. Now, in the Field Explorer window, you will see the new added fields.
