okay so first of all this is the document that I have been working on in the previous videos and in this video Im going to show you how to make cross references in Word so Im going to go to references and then cross reference and then Im going to select figure and Im going to select only label and number and then insert and close and you can see it has inserted the label figure one and if I hold down ctrl and click on it it will take me to figure 1 in the document and I can also put this in brackets if I want to or I can manually edit this to say fig dot 1 and then if I hold down ctrl and click on it it will still take me to figure 1 in the document so I can change this to say whatever I want now another way of doing this is to go to insert and select cross reference here instead and then there are a number of other options for the reference type and also for the text to insert I am just going to show a couple more examples of this so if I select above slash below and then insert

Connect text boxes Click Home Draw Text Box, and drag the cross shaped cursor to draw a box where you want text. Click in the text box you want as the first text box in the story. On the Text Box Tools Format tab, in the Linking group, click Create Link. Click in the text box you want as the next in the story.
Right-click the paragraph that you want to keep together. In the box that opens, select Paragraph. In the Paragraph dialog box, click the Line and Page Breaks tab. In the Pagination section, select the Keep lines together check box, and click OK.
Click in the body section of your document (i.e. not the header or footer). Press Ctrl-A to select all paragraphs. Press F9 to update all cross-references. (This will also update other fields in your document, such as the table of contents.)
Using Cross-References This will also work to reference page numbers of headings and so on. Put your cursor where you want the reference to be. On the References Ribbon, in the Captions Group, click the Cross-reference () icon. Select the type of item you are referencing from the Reference type pulldown.
Select the text or picture that you want to display as a hyperlink. Press Ctrl+K. You can also right-click the text or picture and click Link on the shortcut menu. Under Link to, click Existing File or Web Page.
Insert a Cross-reference Click where you want to add a reference. Click the Insert tab. Expand the Links group, if necessary. Click the Cross-reference button. Select what you want the cross-reference to point to. Click the Insert reference to list arrow and select how you want the reference to be displayed.
