Longest Road - How can I interrupt an opponents Longest Road? By building a settlement on an intersection of the Longest Road. Needless to say that you must observe all building rules when doing this.
There are two weird related rules, though: An opponents settlement at the end of your road prevents you from expanding through that settlement. This is illustrated on the official website. Even though you can keep building, your road is considered to be cut in half for the purposes of Longest Road.
If another player builds a settlement at the end of someones road, the road owner cannot build a road beyond the settlement, because he is NOT placing the piece next to one of his own already existing playing pieces but next to a playing piece of another player.
Basic function. Following the basic rules of the game, a settlement is built using 1 Lumber , 1 Brick, 1 Wool, and 1 Grain, and can only be placed on an unoccupied intersection that is at least two intersections away from another settlement, city, or metropolis.
No. If you build a new road, it must always connect to one of your own roads, settlements, or cities. In the situation depicted above, the blue player would not be connecting his road piece to his own road but to the red players settlement, which the rule prohibits.
You can break an opponents road by building a settlement on an unoccupied intersection along that road! If you are tied for longest road, you still keep the Longest Road card. However, if you no longer have the longest road, but two or more players tie for the new longest road, set the Longest Road card aside.
LONGEST ROAD If you are the first player to build a continuous road of at least 5 individual road pieces, you take this special card and place it face up in front of you. This card is worth 2 victory points.
You can build the settlement in the middle of an opponents road (as long as your own road connects to it and there is at least one gap before any other existing settlements). Yes. It does affect the longest road: the road stops at the settlement for counting purposes, and starts again at the other side.
