This presentation provides an introduction to GPS links and codes. GPS satellites transmit signals on multiple frequencies, referred to as links (L). The main links are L1 at 1575.42 MHz, L2 at 1227.6 MHz, and newer satellites also transmit on L5 at 1176.45 MHz. Multiple codes are sent on each link, with the main legacy codes being the CA code and the P/PY code, and newer satellites transmit newer codes like M code and L1C. This presentation will explain these links and codes and how they are used within the GPS system, starting with the L band.
