Warrant, from Hollywood, California, was formed in 1984 by drummer Max Asher, who allegedly named the band after Warren DiMartini from Ratt. Hed be joined by vocalist Adam Shore, guitarists Josh Lewis and Erik Turner, and bassist Jerry Dixon. This lineup would play around California until 1986 when Asher and Shore would leave to start a new band called Hot Wheelz. Theyd be replaced by two guys from another local band called Plain Jane, drummer Steven Sweet and singer, Jani Lane. We started a band called Plain Jane which lasted about a year and then we split from that band because the guitarist and bass player got married. So we didnt know whether we wanted to move back to Florida and regroup, and form another Plain Jane or stay out here. And while we were in the deciding mode, I guess youd say, that day there was a note on the door that said, Hi, were the guys from Warrant. We need a singer and we need a drummer.
