Nothing happens in chapter seven of Of Mice and Men. This is because there are only six chapters to the book. In the last chapter, which is chapter six of the story, Lennie remembers Georges orders and goes to the clearing by the side of the river where George told him to go if there was trouble.
The next morning, George and Lennie arrive at the ranch and go to the bunkhouse. The old swamper, Candy, informs them the boss is mad because they were supposed to arrive the night before.
George and Lennie docHub the ranch and inspect the bunk house where they will be staying. There they meet Candy, the old swamper, who is missing his right hand and who is constantly followed by his old sheep dog.
Finally, in this chapter, Steinbeck has clearly delineated the lines of conflict the menace coming from the evil and bullying of Curley and the seductive temptation of his wife. These two are catalysts of fear each time they appear.
Of Mice and Men chapter 3 delves deeper into the theme of loneliness. Candys dog is callously shot by the ranch-hand Carlson, who complains That stink hangs around even after hes gone. Though old and rheumatic, the dog is the only loyal companion that the swamper has.
In Chapter Four, its Saturday night and most of the men have gone into the nearby town to go to a brothel , leaving behind Lennie, Candy and Crooks (a disabled man who works in the stables and is the only black man on the ranch), as well as Curleys wife. Lennie goes to Crooks room in the stable.
Chapter 2 of `Of Mice and Men` is set in the bunkhouse on the ranch where the novel takes place. Candy shows George and Lennie to their bunks, and George is upset when he finds a can of lice-killer.
Chapter Two Summary In chapter two, we meet the rest of the characters. We learn who the other ranch workers are and we kind of learn what kind of person they are. Candy comes in and we meet his dog. Curley, Slim, Curleys wife, Carlson, and the boss all come in at a different time and introduce themselves.
