You can use the audit log reports provided with SharePoint to view the data in the audit logs for a site collection. You can sort, filter, and analyze this data to determine who has done what with sites, lists, libraries, content types, list items, and library files in the site collection.
In the Log Types tab, select the Data Access audit log types that you want to enable for your selected services. Click Save.
How to configure Mailbox Auditing Sign into the Security Compliance Center with your Office 365 Admin account. Select Search Investigation, and then select Audit log search. Click on Start recording user and admin activity. Youll see a message advising that auditing has been enabled for your organization.
To enable Microsoft 365 audit log search, use the Microsoft 365 Admin Center: Log in as an administrator. In the Security Compliance Center, expand Search then select Audit log search. Click Start recording user and admin activities next to the information warning at the top.
If you dont see Site settings, click Site information and then click View all site settings. On the Site settings page, click Site collection features under the Site Collection Administration heading. Note: A site can be docHubly modified in appearance and navigation.
SharePoint audit logs data are stored on the AuditData table inside the content database of the site collection. You need to be careful which events you track and how you configure the audit log trimming to avoid using excessive disk space for audit logs.
Use the compliance portal to turn on auditing Go to and sign in. In the left navigation pane of the compliance portal, select Audit. If auditing isnt turned on for your organization, a banner is displayed prompting you start recording user and admin activity.
Activate the Security Audit Log Go to transaction SM19.
