Tools like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets are widely used to track employee hours. Typically, employees will add their work hours each day and submit the timesheet for approval at the end of the week. Their total working hours will be calculated automatically if the spreadsheet is set up with the correct formulas.
Enter the date range of working days on the timesheet; this may be a daily, weekly, or monthly timesheet. Include the tasks the employee was working on during this time period; in some cases, you may be able to group these tasks into projects or categories to gain insight into how the employee's time was spent.
There are two ways you can keep track of time: Measure working time using a timer - start tracking time when you start working on something and stop when you finish (or when you switch to a different activity). Add time manually later - approximate and enter all your time entries at the end of the day/week.
The employee timesheet should include the following information: Employee's name. Pay period. Date worked. Day worked. Hours worked. Total workweek hours.
A timesheet is a data table which an employer can use to track the time a particular employee has worked during a certain period. Businesses use timesheets to record time spent on tasks, projects, or clients.
Timesheets work by employees entering the hours they work into a table. This sheet is then sent for approval at the end of each period of pay. Most timesheets will have customised fields. This will allow employees to enter time for specific tasks, projects or activities.
How to Fill Out a Timesheet Enter the Employee's Name. Provide the Date or the Date Range. Fill in the Task Details. Add Hours Worked. Calculate Your Total Hours. Approve the Timesheet.
Online Spreadsheets Online spreadsheets such as Google Sheets and Excel are additional resources companies use to keep track of hours worked. Employers can easily share this among their employees for them to manually record their hours. Adding up employee hours takes less than three clicks.
