How to Write Goals and Objectives for Grant Proposals State your objectives in quantifiable terms. State your objectives in terms of outcomes, not process. Objectives should specify the result of an activity. Objectives should identify the target audience or community being served.
The letter of support consists of three main sections: an opening statement or introduction that identifies the project, one or two main body section of the letter to indicate the relationship of the writer to the project seeking funding, and a closing statement to summarize with key points.
Writing the Specific Aims A good way to start is with a sentence that states your projects goals. In some cases, you may want to explain why you did not take an alternative route. State your hypothesis (if relevant) and briefly describe your aims and how they build on rigorous prior and preliminary studies.
Your specific aims is the crux of your proposal so make sure they are concise and highly focused. Get them critiqued, and rewrite until the aims are solid and provide a foundation for the rest of your proposal. Ensure that your specific aims will provide clear results and that they test your hypothesis.
State your central hypothesis clearly, specifically, and with simple language. Describe how your project addresses the critical need, and clearly state the proposed solution. In general, avoid vague hypotheses because it will be unclear to the reviewers what you expect to determine with the proposed research.
Each reference must include the names of all authors (in the same sequence in which they appear in the publication; you can use et al. convention in place of listing all authors in a citation), the article and journal title, book title, volume number, page numbers, and year of publication.
First Sentence/Hook: Explain WHAT your research topic is and WHY it is critical that you conduct the research. What is Known: State what is currently known in the specific field (3-5 sentences). Provide the reader with only the necessary details to understand why you are proposing the work.
