greetings I was recently working with someone who is doing some things with endnotes in a document that work got a little complex and I thought it would make a good video so the challenge the person had was that they wanted but endnotes in which is simple enough just reference insert EndNote but occasionally they would want to refer to the same EndNote more than once so for example here Ive got three endnotes that I popped into this document and please dont bother reading the text because its not intended to make sense for a document or in notes its just some random text but you can see three EndNote references up in the body of the document three and notes here down at the end of the document that was simple enough but what happens when the person is going along working and they say okay I need to refer to EndNote number two again I dont want to get number four and have to type the same EndNote I just want to have a little to appear in the document and when I click it it goes to

To cite multiple sources of the same kind in the same footnote, put the sources in chronological order with the oldest first, separating them with a semi-colon. For example: Broder v Saillard (1876) 2 Ch D 692 (Ch); Pemberton v Bright [1960] 1 All ER 792 (CA).
When your parenthetical citation includes two or more works, order them the same way they appear in the reference list (viz., alphabetically), separated by a semi-colon. If you cite multiple works by the same author in the same parenthetical citation, give the authors name only once and follow with dates.
No, footnotes dont count in the word count in most cases. Footnotes are auxiliary information that further clarifies certain points being made in the essay. Since this isnt a part of the body of the essay, most teachers and professors do not count footnotes as part of the essays word count.
Open the word count dialogue box (Ctrl + Shift + G), then uncheck the box Include textboxes, footnotes and endnotes, then save it.
Add a footnote Click Insert Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.
Footnotes (or endnotes) are included in the word count and include all citations (reference in OSCOLA style), explanation, or comment at the bottom of the page (or at the end of the essay). References that are not included in the word count are additional sources of information such as alternative bibliographies.
For subsequent citations, use a shortened version of the footnote, which includes: Authors last name (for edited works, use the editors last name, but omit the ed. after the name) Shortened form of title (2-4 words; omit initial articles such as A, An, or The from the title)
Separate the citations with semicolons. Arrange two or more works by the same authors (in the same order) by year of publication. Place in-press citations last. Give the authors surnames once; for each subsequent work, give only the date.
If you are using Chicago, footnotes are not included in the word count.
Footnotes should be in 10 pt. Times or closest comparable font available, they should be single spaced, and there should be a footnote separator rule (line). Footnote numbers or symbols in the text must follow, rather than precede, punctuation. Excessively long footnotes are probably better handled in an appendix.
