Under the Page Layouts section, Click on Edit on the page layout that you use on the object. Click the wrench icon beside the custom field that you will make required. Select the Required checkbox. Click on Ok, then click on Save.
Using page layouts we can make required field for some profiles and read-only to some profiles using field level security in SFDC. Example:- For Administrative Assistant profile, if we want to remove access to payroll and social security information for obvious reasons.
ifferent ways to make field mandatory : Make the field Required at the time of field creation by checking the Required check box. Make the field Required through Page Layout by checking the Required checkbook in Field Properties. Validation Rules can also be used to make the field mandatory.
Fields can be dragged and dropped, on and off the page layout. Once a field has been added, click on the wrench to set field properties. From here, you can choose to make a field Read-Only or Required at the page layout level.
Note: Salesforce.com recommends using the Page Layout option for making the field mandatory.
Click on the gear icon then Setup Object Manager. Choose the object Fields Relationships. Select the custom field that you will make required. Click on Edit and under General Options select Required. Click on Save.
Always On Layout fields are fields that must be on the page layout and cannot be removed from the Page Layout.
This validation for Required field is checked whenever you are trying to save a record (created/ edited ). If the field has been made Required only at Page Layout level, in that case, it will be required only when one works on the UI on that particular page ( create/edit record on page).
