A large landscape works for most photo books because it provides plenty of space for your photos. If youre more of a portrait photographer though and are creating a photo book full of photos of people, try a large portrait book.
A layflat album, has more rigid pages, while the standard album has pages you traditionally find in a school year book. I personally, like the layflat pages. Turning the impressive rigid pages, makes me feel like Im browsing photos in an art gallery. Side note, they are also less likely to rip!
Shutterflys deluxe layflat pages are printed on double-thick pages made with satin-finish paper and lay flat when the books are open. These style books create beautiful layflat wedding albums and are perfect for a professional photographers portfolio.
Layflat books use one continuous sheet of paper for each page spread (for example, pages 2 and 3 are a single sheet of paper) folded down the center and glued to the next spread, instead of individual pages glued into the binding. This makes Layflat books ideal for showcasing photos that run across two facing pages.
Theres no set number; extreme lengths for books vary between as few as 12 to more than 300 images. There are number of things to keep in mind when making a photo book. Most photo books contain between 50 and 100 images.
How to design a great photo book Be clear on the purpose of your book. Keep the layout simple so the photos shine. Include only your best and most meaningful photographs. Feature hero shots on a page of their own or across a spread for impact.
How to organize old photos Clarify the why of why youre doing this. Start with physical photos first, apply what you learn to your digital library. Get all of the photos in one place. Sort chronologically, by person, or by theme. Finally, sort into 3 subcategories, and put the winners into your album.
8 steps to help you create the perfect wedding album Select and organize your photos. Decide a theme. Find the right format. Size it up. Its all in the details. Turn the page. Judge a book by its cover. Keep it safe.
The lay flat is seamless lay flat, photos printed on double spreads which are stuck together. Pages are thick enough but not rigid and it looks good. The hardcover and softcover are bound the same, they are perfect bound, the pages are glued at the spine but the hardcover obviously has a thicker, boarded cover.
Balance is key to making your photo books look gorgeous and professional. Not only should individual pages be well balanced, but each side of the spread should complement the other. Dont be afraid of a little white spaceit can help you avoid cluttered pages and give certain images and layouts more or less weight.
