Formatting the First Page of Your Paper In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructors name, the course, and the date. Again, be sure to use double-spaced text. Double space again and center the title. Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks.
Type the text you want into a Word document. Select a sentence that you want to add a header to. Select Home Styles (or press Alt+H, then L), and then select the heading you want, such as the Heading 1 button.
A Header layout can be global, meaning it will display on every page of the site, or it can be conditional, and just display on certain pages, categories, or custom post types etc. In that way, you can even have multiple headers, for different sections of your site.
A header is text that is placed at the top of a page, while a footer is placed at the bottom, or foot, of a page. Typically these areas are used for inserting document information, such as the name of the document, the chapter heading, page numbers, creation date and the like.
Keep the heading double-spaced, in the same font as the rest of your paper. Left-align the first four lines (they should start at the 1-inch margin on the left side of your paper) Center the title (it should appear in the middle of your paper) Make sure your title is in title case.
The title page should also include a page header and page numbers. The running head should be in the upper left-hand corner of the paper, and the page numbers should be in the upper right-hand corner.
Configure the layout settings on the Edit Themer layout screen as in the screenshot below, or use the following procedure for details. Verify that Type is Header. Leave Sticky and Overlay set to No. For Location, choose Page in the left field and All Pages in the right field. Click Publish.
Formatting an MLA Heading The heading information starts at the 1-inch margin. Its in the upper left-hand corner of your paper, double spaced, and in a readable font. After your heading, you include the title of your paper, centered in title case.
