The type of content that is being transmittedFor documents that contain graphics (e.g. scans of documents), it may easily take 3 minutes per page or more to be delivered. To minimize fax transmission time, you can use the Optimize Document For Fax feature for faster fax submission.
Do You Put a 1 Before a Fax Number? Faxes use the same network as voice calls. That means you may not need to add a 1 before the fax number when sending a fax to a recipient within your area code. However, if you send a fax long distance, youll likely need to add the 1 before the area code prefix.
The format for your fax number is the same as for phone numbers in your region. You can place the area code in parenthesis. Alternatively, place a hyphen or period at the last number of the area code. The final number should appear as one of the following examples: (123) 456-7890. 123-456-7890. 123. 456.7890.
Fax transmissions include a confirmation process. One of the reasons fax continues in use is that fax has a process to confirm that the entire message was received. When the receiving fax machine sends a confirmation signal, the sending fax machine prints a confirmation page.
As the very least you should have: From: (your name). Fax: (your fax number). Phone: (your phone number). To: (the company or person who is receiving the fax message). Attn: (the specific person who needs to get the fax). Fax: (their fax number). Phone: (their phone number).
The Golden Rule is simple: Fax unto others as you would have others fax unto you. People need to keep their fax machines open to receive important documents, but that means the machine is open to unsolicited documents as well. When one document is coming in, all others are held up.
Using most machines requires inserting a cover letter, dialing the fax number and sending your fax on its way.
The easiest way to tell that your fax was successfully transmitted is if your fax machine prints a fax confirmation page. This is a one-page summary that lists the time and date, number of pages, and the recipients fax number.
For example, if you do business in area code 555, your fax number will begin with 555 and be followed by the standard seven digits of a phone number, so a fax number example would be 555-123-4567.
Last Update: August 9th, 2021. No answer to a fax means that either there is no fax machine at the fax number entered, or the fax machines failed to connect.
