when you plot multiple series in a chart the labels can end up overlapping other data which is less than ideal now we can avoid this with custom chart label positions assigned to ghost series it sounds scary but its dead easy okay well that was to punch in one sentence anyhow lets take a look first I need to delete these labels because theyre assigned to the actual series Im selecting them and press the Delete key now all I need to do is add a column to my table or the labels and we want to find the maximum of the target and the actual now because my chart is linked to this table it automatically included this new series so that saves me a step Im going to select this new series and add labels but I want to click on the arrow and go down to more options I want to deselect show leader lines and value and I want to select a value from cells now when I check this it opens a dialog box asking me to select the data range so I want the labels for the actual series so Im going to selec

All graphs, diagrams and images should be titled as Figures. These will be numbered consecutively throughout the dissertation: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so on. After the numbering, there should be a short and concise title. Titles for figures appear below the figure itself.
Data labels make a chart easier to understand because they show details about a data series or its individual data points. For example, in the pie chart below, without the data labels it would be difficult to tell that coffee was 38% of total sales.
Captions A figure caption is centered under the figure; a table caption is centered above the table (if a caption is more than one line, make it left justified). A Figure and its caption should appear on the same page. All captions should start with a capitalized word and end with a period.
Figures should be labeled with a number followed by a descriptive caption or title. Captions should be concise but comprehensive. They should describe the data shown, draw attention to important features contained within the figure, and may sometimes also include interpretations of the data.
For most graphs, give a brief description including the title and axis labels and mention trends not already described in the text. For simple charts, state the actual data points. For more complex charts, an ideal description would include the data in a table or list.
