Basically, we have only three types of joins: Inner join, Outer join, and Cross join. We use any of these three JOINS to join a table to itself.
Join operation combines two relations with respect to a condition, It is denoted by ⋈. Joins are of different types, Theta join, Natural join, Outer join (Left outer join, Right outer join, Full outer Join).
1) Normal Join Normal join discards all the rows of data from the master and detail source that do not match, based on the condition. 2) Master Join Master outer join discards all the unmatched rows from the master source and keeps all the rows from the detail source and the matching rows from the master source.
To join more than two sources in a mapping, you can use multiple Joiner transformations. You can join the output from the Joiner transformation with another source pipeline. You can add Joiner transformations to the mapping until you join all source pipelines.
Theta Join, Equijoin, and Natural Join are called inner joins.
(INNER) JOIN : Returns records that have matching values in both tables. LEFT (OUTER) JOIN : Returns all records from the left table, and the matched records from the right table. RIGHT (OUTER) JOIN : Returns all records from the right table, and the matched records from the left table.
1. Four types of joins: left, right, inner, and outer.
In Informatica, the following joins can be created using joiner transformation, such as: Master outer join. In Master outer join, all records from the Detail source are returned by the join, and only matching rows from the master source are returned. Detail outer join. Full outer join. Normal join.
The most common type of join is: SQL INNER JOIN (simple join). An SQL INNER JOIN returns all rows from multiple tables where the join condition is met.
Types of joins Cross join. A cross join returns all possible combinations of rows of two tables (also called a Cartesian product). Join/inner join. An inner join, also known as a simple join, returns rows from joined tables that have matching rows. Left outer join/left join. Right outer join/right join. Full outer join.
