Join as a worker node Run the command from the output on the worker to join the swarm: $ docker swarm join \ -- SWMTKN-1-49nj1cmql0jkz5s954yi3oex3nedyz0fb0xx14ie39trti4wxv-8vxv8rssmk743ojnwacrr2e7c \ 192.168. 99.100:2377 This node joined a swarm as a worker.
Manager nodes elect a single leader to conduct orchestration tasks. Worker nodes receive and execute tasks dispatched from manager nodes. By default manager nodes also run services as worker nodes, but you can configure them to run manager tasks exclusively and be manager-only nodes.
Add nodes to the swarm Open a terminal and ssh into the machine where you want to run a worker node. Run the command produced by the docker swarm init output from the Create a swarm tutorial step to create a worker node joined to the existing swarm:
There are two different join s available, one for the worker role and one for the manager role. You pass the using the -- flag when you run swarm join. Nodes use the join only when they join the swarm. This is a cluster management command, and must be executed on a swarm manager node.
Log in to hub.docker.com. Click on your username in the top right corner and select Account Settings. Select Security New Access .
To add nodes to a cluster (console) In the navigation pane, choose the engine running on the cluster that you want to add nodes to. From the list of clusters, for the cluster that you want to add a node to, choose its name. Choose Add node. Complete the information requested in the Add Node dialog box.
Worker nodes are also instances of Docker Engine whose sole purpose is to execute containers. Worker nodes dont participate in the Raft distributed state, make scheduling decisions, or serve the swarm mode HTTP API.
docker swarm init generates two random s, a worker and a manager .
