Both of these functions let you join (concatenate) text in different cells together. TEXTJOIN lets you join values with a delimiter of your choice, and has an option to ignore empty values. CONCAT simply mashes all values together without options.
Reverse the concatenate function to split cell value to multiple cells with Text to Columns. Actually, in Excel, the Text to Columns feature is opposite of the concatenate function, you can apply it to split cell values into multiple cells by any separators you need.
You can also click on a cell to enter it into the CONCATENATE function. In our example, after typing the name of the function and the opening parenthesis, we click on the B2 cell, type a comma after B2 in the function, click on the A2 cell, and then type the closing parenthesis after A2 in the function.

The TEXTJOIN Function[1] joins text from two or more strings together with a delimiter separating each value. Introduced in MS Excel 2016, TEXTJOIN is categorized as an Excel String/Text function.
Split Names tool - fastest way to separate names in Excel Select any cell containing a name you want to separate and click the Split Names icon on the Ablebits Data tab > Text group. Select the desired names parts (all of them in our case) at click Split.
How to merge cells in Excel without losing data Select all the cells you want to combine. Make the column wide enough to fit the contents of all cells. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Fill > Justify. ... Click Merge and Center or Merge Cells, depending on whether you want the merged text to be centered or not.
If your Excel TEXTJOIN function is not working but you need to use it urgently, in this case you can use the alternative option like CONCAT function. This function offers you the same functions as CONCATENATE.
TEXTJOIN lets you select both individual cells or an Array of cells. We can therefore use an array IF Statement to select the text we want. This test will look and see of A2=B19 and if there is a match it will return the contents of cell B2. If no, it will return a blank.
In this case, “Comma,” so select comma. Click on “Next” and click on “Finish” in the next window. We will get the opposite of the concatenate. Like this, we can use functions and “Text to Columns” in Excel to do the opposite of concatenating.
