You can launch multiple instances from a single AMI when you require multiple instances with the same configuration.
Its not possible to move an existing instance to another subnet, Availability Zone, or VPC. Instead, you can manually migrate the instance by creating a new Amazon Machine Image (AMI) from the source instance. Then, launch a new instance using the new AMI in the desired subnet, Availability Zone, or VPC.
Open the Amazon EC2 console at . In the navigation pane, choose AMIs, and then select an AMI. On the Details tab, check the values for Platform details and Usage operation.
To launch an instance. Open the Amazon EC2 console at . From the EC2 console dashboard, in the Launch instance box, choose Launch instance, and then choose Launch instance from the options that appear. Under Name and tags, for Name, enter a descriptive name for your instance.
Find the row of the instance to clone. At the right end of the row, click the More Actions morevert menu. Click Create clone. On the Create a clone page, update the instance ID if needed, and click Create clone, leaving Clone current state of instance selected.
Using the EC2 Console Open Amazon EC2 console, and select the region that contains the AMI you want to use. In the left-hand navigation, select AMIs under Images to display all AMIs in your selected region. For the AMI you want to copy, right click to show Actions, and then select Copy AMI.
Open the Amazon EC2 console at . In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots, Create snapshot. For Resource type, choose Volume. For Volume ID, select the volume from which to create the snapshot. (Optional) For Description, enter a brief description for the snapshot.
Replication server instance type Servers with less than 26 disks Change the instance type to m5. large. Increase the instance type to m5. xl or higher as needed. Servers with more than 26 disks (or servers in AWS Regions that do not support m5 instance types) Change the instance type to m4. large. Increase to m4.
