hey everyone welcome to this short tutorial in this video Im going to show you how to do a special join in ArcGIS desktop so you must be wondering why do we need to do a special turn well you maybe want to create a graduated symbol map maybe wants to see the distribution and the count of the points on the polygon map so all these things and much more you can do by using this spatial join function in ArcGIS so first thing first I am going I already have my polygon map indexed up in our chairs techstop now Im going to upload the data file the point data file so once you upload your point data file you have to extract the data you have to transform it into a shape file until that you wont be able to join it with the polygon map so Im going to do that to do that basically you right-click on the data file you choose this display XY data and then just hit OK ok so now you see the points but still it is not a shapefile you have to save it as a shapefile to do that right click on the laye
